Georgetown University: Masjid Yarrow Mamout is an Islamic prayer space located within the Georgetown University campus in Washington, D.C. Named after Yarrow Mamout, an enslaved African who gained his freedom and became a prominent figure in early 19th-century Georgetown, this mosque serves as a spiritual center for Muslim students, faculty, and staff. The masjid reflects the university's commitment to religious diversity and provides a peaceful environment for worship and reflection in the heart of the nation's capital.
The masjid offers daily prayer facilities, Friday Jumu'ah congregational prayers, and Islamic educational programs. It features separate prayer areas for men and women, ablution facilities, and a small collection of Islamic literature. The space hosts interfaith dialogues, cultural events, and religious celebrations during Ramadan and Eid. Students can participate in study circles, Quranic recitation sessions, and community service initiatives organized through the masjid.
